Most of us take Yoga classes for our fitness, or just for the fun of it, but what may not be so obvious is the huge amount of information that can be learned from the poses, and the poses themselves.
On the first day of class, I found myself sitting in a room of women who had been, for much of their lives, completely comfortable in their own skin. Due to the myriad of societal pressures and expectations young girls and women are faced with, they are often given the message that being comfortable in one’s own skin means looking a certain way—and not the way nature intended.
The topic of nude yoga always seems to elicit conflicting responses from the yoga community. Some view it as a significant step toward “self-centering” and letting go of attachments, while others believe it is totally superfluous in yoga practice.
Nicolas Tsampathonis, a yoga, AcroYoga, and Pilates instructor from France, gave us the following nude yoga pictures. We thought we’d share the pictures with you to demonstrate that, despite the controversy surrounding nude yoga, it can still show us the beauty of the human body in yoga poses.
