Support for yoga for seniors is growing fast, especially in New York City. The city’s Department of Aging has partnered with the Yoga Council to offer free yoga classes to seniors at the United Nations Plaza. The program integrates ancient forms of yoga with modern techniques, and provides yoga instruction as well as a chance to socialize with other seniors at the five-day program.

New York City has launched a new service for older adults who need help getting cent and exercise and to maintain their balance. Seniors will receive free yoga classes every Tuesday and Thursday at the Centers for Yoga and Health at Jamaica Center in Queens.

At the meanwhile, Sunrise Tai Chi sessions are held in Fort Tryon Park, and twice-weekly tai chi seminars are held in Bryant Park in Manhattan.
